Camdenton R-3
5th Grade Teacher

Mrs. Jody Hilton - 5th Grade Teacher

This is my nineteenth year of teaching fifth grade and my twenty-second year as an educator. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Missouri State University in 2000. After teaching gifted students and fifth graders in a small Morgan County school district, I continued my education by graduating with a Master’s Degree in Administration from William Woods University in 2010. In the fall of 2012, I accepted a 5th-grade position for the Camdenton R-3 School District.

While navigating the ever-changing waters of fifth grade, I have also been an FLL Robotics Coach, FCA mentor teacher, CTA President, social studies and ELA chair, BLT member, building-wide reading interventions designer, and leader, mentor teacher, and a cooperating teacher for MSU student teachers. Community-wise, my focus is on church. My husband, David, and I served on the worship team as leaders for eleven years and just stepped into the role of elders.

The last few years have been very exciting and humbling for me.  In 2015, I was named Camdenton Elementary Teacher of the Year.  This provided me the opportunity to apply for regional and state-level teacher awards.   In July of 2016, I received notification that I had been named a Missouri Regional Teacher of the Year and that August I was honored to become a Missouri Teacher of the Year Finalist.  Although I did not win the state competition, the whole experience was simply amazing!

David and I have 16-year-old twins who will be juniors at Camdenton High School this fall.  We currently find ourselves passing one another as we divide and conquer to travel to numerous baseball, basketball, volleyball, and track events!  However, we are enjoying this season while it lasts.

Topics I Enjoy Talking About
~School (Really...if you like this topic, you should hang out with my family. My mom was a thirty-two-year veteran teacher who started in a one-room schoolhouse, and my twin sister works in schools in Iowa. We NEVER run out of topics to talk about).
~Faith -My story is His story. I would not be the person/teacher I am now without God walking beside me.
~Farming -Both sides of my family come from a farming background. (It really threw my husband for a loop when we got married...he is a city boy!)
~Books - I would rather read than watch TV. The book really is better than the movie!!!
